  • NEWSBYTE: Updated China EMC Standards Effective September 1 Print Page Tell Friend

    July 2009 (09NB-213)

The Certificate and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) of the People’s Republic of China has released transition information regarding its new standard, GB9254-2008, Information Technology Equipment—Radio Disturbance Characteristics—Limits and Methods of Measurement.

According to information available on the CNCA’s web site, the new standard will be used to assess compliance with the PRC’s Compulsory Product Certification System as of September 1, 2009 for electrical and electronic products, including telecommunications terminal equipment, WLAN devices, and certain information technology equipment.

Until the effective date of September 1, 2009 manufacturers have the option of demonstrating compliance with the technical requirements of either the new standard or the former standard, GB9254-1998. However, manufacturers of products certified to the former standard will be required to transfer their certification to the new standard before September 1, 2010.

The primary differences between the new and former versions of GB9254 reportedly include the measurement of conducted disturbances at power supply terminals, conducted disturbances at telecommunications ports, and radiated interference.

The original Chinese text of the CNCA’s announcement regarding the implementation of GB9254-2008 is available at http://www.cnca.gov.cn/cnca/zwxx/ggxx/181402.shtml.
